Ján Porvazník, Director of Energy Storage at RWE Renewable (formerly E.On Climate and Renewables) leads the company’s storage development efforts in the Western US. He is an energy consulting and strategy expert with over a decade of analytical, strategic, product launch and operational experience. Throughout his career, Jan has helped energy industry executives with crafting market strategy, portfolio strategy, process optimization, project development, commercial and business development strategy. He has particularly deep expertise in leveraging innovative methodologies and large datasets to support analysis and strategic decision making.  

Priori to joining RWE/E.On, Jan held senior leadership roles with energy market leaders such as Sunpower and Enel. He also has extensive management consulting experience in the fields of business strategy, business development, technology development, transfer and implementation. He has led cross-functional teams in Europe, Middle East and the US focusing on a wide array of specialized topics ranging from strategic support for nuclear power plant development, implementation of smart mobility strategy, launching a wind-tech startup to building a renewable project development strategy.  

Jan has authored a variety of journal articles and white papers on key strategic issues facing the energy industry that were published in several premier US and European media and trade magazines. He is a frequent commentator on the energy industry, with his views sought by international news and research outlets such as Bloomberg or IHS.   

Jan holds a master or management degree from ESCP Europe in Paris, a master of science degree from University of Berkeley and a master of business administration degree from University of Notre Dame. He is a native of Bratislava, Slovakia and resides in Chicago, Illinois.
