Walker Wright, VP of Public Policy, Engie Energy Storage

Walker Wright currently represents ENGIE Storage as VP of Public Policy where he is shaping a regulatory and legislative plan for the Santa Clara, California based energy storage provider. Additionally, since July 2016 Walker has been a Strategy Group Director for ENGIE North America, the US and Canadian Business Unit to ENGIE, the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the world, currently executing its transition towards renewables and a smarter more de-centralized electricity system of the future. Walker also provides policy advice to various “ENGIE family” companies, including ENGIE Services, a leading energy services company in California and across the US. Previously Walker was Senior Director of Public Policy for Sunrun, America’s largest dedicated home solar company where for 5 years he focused on helping Western state markets attain long-term rooftop solar growth via legislative, regulatory and public opinion outcomes. Over the years Walker has testified as an expert witness in numerous regulatory and legislative hearings and held leadership and board positions within industry trade associations and coalitions, including SEIA, CESA, Calssa, The Alliance for Solar Choice (TASC) and the Rising Sun Center for Opportunity. Prior to joining the renewable energy space in California, Walker focused on policy and business development for Petra Systems, the New Jersey based utility and smart grid solutions provider. He holds a BA from Princeton University and an Msc from The London School of Economics and Political Sciences.
