François Vitez P.Eng., Vice President, SNC-Lavalin Clean Power

Mr. Vitez is Vice President for SNC-Lavalin Clean Power. SNC-Lavalin is a leading engineering and construction firm with offices in over 50 countries, SNC-Lavalin’s employees provide consulting engineering, EPC and EPCM services to clients in a variety of industry sectors, including Clean Power, mining and metallurgy, oil and gas, environment and water, and infrastructure

Mr. François Vitez is a hydropower expert, who began his work in the field of hydropower in 1992 in the James Bay hydroelectric complex of Hydro Quebec. Early in his career, he worked at developing numerous small hydropower projects in Nepal including his own Khudi Hydropower Project.

As VP of Operations for the Hydro Division of SNC, Mr. Vitez later developed, managed the engineering and construction of various hydro projects of increasing size and complexity. His experience also covers the field of Solar and Wind Energy as well as Transmission and Distribution sectors. This broader perspective rapidly evolved into a focus on Energy Storage and more specifically Hydro Pumped Storage.

Mr. Vitez has over 24 years of experience in the development, engineering and construction management of Renewable Hydro projects in North America and internationally.

Francois is committed to the development of Renewable Energy resources as a means for sustainable economic development. Francois is fulfilling this commitment through his every day work as well as through active Board participation in various organizations including California Energy Storage Association (CESA), Energy Storage Canada (ESC) as well as Waterpower Canada (WPC)
