Resource Adequacy Working Group

RA Working Group meets Monthly, Second Thursday 1-2pm PT

California has adopted a Resource Adequacy (RA) framework to ensure the reliability in the grid and many load-serving entities (LSEs) contract energy storage to meet their RA requirements. The RA Working Group provides updates on all things touching RA program and capacity planning tools, including Central Buyer (CB) implementation, continued hybrid capacity methods, and energy & hourly capacity related reforms.

How this Working Group is making an impact:

The Resource Adequacy Working Group  in charge of establishing a methodology to properly value the reliability contributions of hybrid resources (generation plus energy storage). Achieved the adoption of a methodology that adds the reliability contributions of generators & storage devices under hybrid configurations. Already in effect.
