Over the past year, the ISO Board of Governors and management have assessed the dynamics that are driving the development of a low-carbon, more decentralized electric service model. Over a dozen policymakers and energy industry leaders were interviewed, each of whom shared their views on the tectonic changes unfolding in the electric industry looking from now to 2030 and beyond. These experts also suggested actions that could help strengthen California’s move to a highly reliable low-carbon grid. Their perspectives, along with those of the ISO Board and management, helped to create a draft vision discussion paper called Electricity 2030—Trends and Tasks for the Coming Years. The paper is available on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/
We will discuss the concepts behind this draft vision at the ISO Stakeholder Symposium on and will subsequently welcome comments from stakeholders. Ultimately, the draft vision, together with received comments, will help inform the ongoing ISO strategic planning process.
Stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the paper to firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business .
